Term Three – Special Edition Wax Carving Class
Wednesday Nights, 6-9pm, over Seven Weeks Beginning 31st July, 2019
This round of Handmade Jewellery for Beginners is a bit of a special one. I will be running a seven week wax working class where we will run through all the basics of wax carving. Over seven weeks, you will explore, experiment and discover the wonderfully meditative art of wax carving and have your favourite models cast in precious metals. Once the casting process is complete, I will show you how to transform your creations into a beautiful, wearable artworks.
A materials kit will be supplied at the beginning of the course which will include a variety of soft and hard waxes, saw blades, sandpaper and other consumables. Casting fees for small silver items usually average around $15- $50 per item, depending on the weight/size and are to be paid for by the student in discussion with tutor. Additional silver and materials can be purchased from Twin Plaza Metals, 55 Gawler Place, Adelaide, once the design of your final project has been determined.
Term Four – Back to Regular Schedule
Wednesday Nights 6-9pm over Seven Weeks. Dates TBA
Design and make your own jewellery using traditional and contemporary techniques. Over seven weeks, I will teach you how to saw-pierce, form, embellish and solder a variety of different jewellery pieces such as rings, pendants or earrings within the intimate surrounds of my Studio Gallery in Glenelg South. This course is a great introduction to jewellery making for those who have no experience and a good refresher for others who want to brush up on their skills.
A materials kit will be supplied at the beginning of the course which will include copper or brass wire and sheet, silver, saw blades, sandpaper and other consumables.
