Term Two of Handmade Jewellery for Beginners Starts Next Week - Don't Miss Out!

My goodness, Term one has just flown by! We recently finished up with the first round of Handmade Jewellery for Beginners and had a lovely group of ladies come together each week to share their projects and stories. The class got off to a flying start with an introduction to the versatile art of ring making, a great beginners’ project. We then ran through some great techniques which helped students develop their own designs to finish with and everyone left with a very personalised piece of jewellery.

This term has also been jam packed with private classes which are a great opportunity for students to work with me, one on one, to take their jewellery skills to the next level. Two of my private students, Vesna and Lilly, have been working on their very own bezel set rings which introduced them to a wide range of useful skills while also leaving them with their very own custom-made ring at the end of the project.

If you are needing some time out for yourself and feel inspired to develop your sense of creativity, you have just over a week to sign up for the next round of Handmade Jewellery for Beginners. Running over seven weeks from 6-9pm on Wednesday evenings, the class is a great place to start your jewellery making journey within the relaxed, social environment of my Studio Gallery in Glenelg South.

I have also just added some new dates for my one day classes, Make Your Own Earrings and Make a Bezel Set Pendant, as well as the term three dates for Handmade Jewellery for Beginners for your to mark in your calendars.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Claire Brooks Studio Gallery and look forward to seeing you next class!

Beginners Jewellery Classes have Landed at Claire Brooks Studio Gallery

After only a month of trade at my brand spanking new Studio Gallery, Glenelg South, the response from my local community has been overwhelmingly positive and I am so thrilled. Thank you so much to everyone who has managed to make their way down for a visit, it has been wonderful to see a few familiar faces and meet so many lovely people who have dropped by.

As many of you know, I have spent much of the past few years preparing to establish a teaching space which would bring community members together by sharing the joy of creating their own handmade jewellery. My plans were small to begin with but, after a generously supported crowd funding campaign and the decision to open a Studio Gallery, my plans got bigger and better than I ever could have imagined. Now finally, I am so pleased to announce that we’ve done it - jewellery classes are now available at Claire Brooks Studio Gallery!

The new teaching space is bright and inviting. Students will create their masterpieces on this beautiful table, handcrafted by local furniture designer, Steve Soeffky.

As a bit of a taster, I will be running two one day classes before Christmas and I have a whole lot more planned for 2019. The first two classes are for beginners and will introduce students to the art of handmade jewellery through earring making and the ancient technique of bezel setting. Class sizes are limited to only six people, meaning that you will have plenty of one on one attention and the teaching space is beautifully light filled, leafy and inspiring. In order to run each class I need at least four students, so sign up now and bring a friend or family member.

Are you an earring lover who wants to take your collection to the next level? During this class you will work within the intimate, six person workshop space at my new Studio Gallery in Glenelg South, to design and make your own earrings. Each student should leave with at least one of earrings, learning some great skills.

Give the gift of creativity this festive season. If you would like to gift a class to a friend or someone you love, please contact me for more details.

The Next Big Thing...

For much of the year I have been keeping a pretty huge secret and I am both ecstatic and relieved to finally share it with you!

The lease is signed, the keys are collected and I am thrilled to announce that in August this year, I will be opening up my very own studio, gallery and teaching space in Glenelg South.

Positioned perfectly amongst a cute little group of shops and just a short walk from the beach, the gallery will be a space for purchasing exquisite handmade jewellery and rediscovering your creative side. I am currently working with local artisans to help me with custom built displays and furniture and have been busily welding up some new goodies to make it my own.

My little shop. There is lots to do but it will look great when its all done.

There is a large room at the front of the shop where I will host classes, set up my studio and display my work for customers to see. Out the back is a smaller room, which will be used for heavier machinery and hammering, as well as a little veranda where students can enjoy a cup of tea in the sunlight.

This new space is a great opportunity for a fresh start, bringing you all of the awesomeness promised in my crowd funding campaign, only better. As originally planned, I still want the space to be inviting, nurturing and community orientated, however, I am also nutting out some potential extra features such as day bench/tool hire and an area where I can consult with clients. Having my own venue will also allow more flexibility to offer extra classes and specialty workshops with guest tutors in future.

I've been welding up some new goodies for the gallery. Can you guess what these will be?

I am going to be taking a well-earned break over Christmas but will be back by mid January refreshed and ready to go. Keep an eye out for all the exciting new things I have planned for 2018 including the opening of my new teaching space, a big online shop revamp and the official launch of my Interlace precious range amongst other things.

Thank you for your support during 2017 and wishing you all a wonderful holiday season.

Only Two Days Left to Donate. Don't Miss Out!

With only two days left to donate to my crowd funding campaign there isn’t much time to get your hands on some wonderful rewards just in time for Christmas. The campaign is still going strong with funding almost at the 75% mark so please keep those donations rolling in and spread the word. The campaign is all or nothing, meaning that I have to raise the full amount in order to receive any of the funds. With your help, I can make it to the 100% mark and set up a fantastic teaching space here at Karma & Crow Studio Collective

Trouble Shooting

I have had word from quite a few pledgers that they are having trouble donating through the Pozible.com system, particularly when using Paypal. If you have already donated but have not received word from me personally thanking you for your generous donation (either through Pozible.com or Facebook) please contact me as soon as possible so that I can investigate. I don’t want anyone to miss out.

If you have already tried to donate but continue to get an error message, please don’t give up. Try using your credit card rather than Paypal and if you still having issues, please contact me directly. Your donations are absolutely crucial to getting this wonderful project up and running.

There are also a few pairs of Microscope Earrings left through the campaign site . Avaialble in Andamooka Opal or Fresh Water Pearls which float freely behind glass lenses, these stunners are quite the eye catchers. Photograph courtesy of Bianca Hoffrichter.

What a Great First Week of Crowdfunding!

Well that’s one week of my big campaign down and I have to say, I’m absolutely overwhelmed by the positive response I have had from everyone. The campaign is already 30% funded and I am just blown away by all of your support. Thank you so much to all the people who have generously donated so early in the piece and also to all those who have taken the time to share my story with your friends. You’ve really helped me to build momentum and I am so grateful.

I have had some great responses to my new Andamooka Opal Microscope range and even had my very first student sign up to one my classes which is so exciting. I can't wait to get the space up and running so that I can begin to share my passion for the handmade with our community.

And We Have Lift Off!

After months of burning the midnight oil, my campaign is ready and only moments ago, I pressed that big blue button to start raising funds for my awesome new jewellery teaching space here at Karma & Crow. The campaign runs until early December and if you have missed my last few posts, I have designed some great new jewellery to say a very big thank you for your generous donations.

As part of the big push to get my campaign off to a flying start, I have been working with a very talented videographer, Amanda Davis from Wild Light Projects to create a beautiful introductory video about what I am trying to achieve.

The 'Help Claire' button below will send you straight through to the campaign. Please donate whatever you can to help me set up a great space and if you can’t donate, I would love you to share what I am doing with your friends. Your support means so much to me and will help me make our beautiful space here at Karma & Crow even more vibrant.

I'm so happy with my campaign video produced by Amanda from Wild Light Projects.

Introducing Hundreds and Thousands - New Earrings Just in Time for my Crowd Funding Campaign

This month I have been busily preparing to raise money for tools for my new jewellery classes here at Karma and Crow Studio Collective. Part of the deal with crowd funding is that I give you beautiful rewards in exchange for your generous donations. Coming up with a list of enticing rewards has been a great excuse to design something different and so today I introduce my new jewellery range, Hundreds and Thousands.

Naturally, I always manage to come up with the best ideas when I am in the middle of a huge project and have absolutely no time to work on it. Sure enough, this range of earrings was no different. The idea came to me at least three years ago and as much as I have tried to keep my focus and finish other projects before I jump into the next one, this idea just wouldn't stop nagging me.

I started where any good piece of jewellery begins for me – in model form.

Following a similar geometric aesthetic to my Interlace adornment, Hundreds and Thousands are hand cut from a single sheet of copper and hung from matching sterling silver hooks. There are nine different shapes in the range and I am offering them in either duck egg blue or rustic blackened copper.

Each pair of earrings are hand cut from a single sheet of copper.

If you would like to snap up a pair of Hundreds and Thousands just in time for Christmas, keep an eye out for my Crowd Funding Campaign in November. I will be offering these as well as some beautiful new opal jewellery and exclusive pre-release jewellery classes in exchange for your donations.

My Super Exciting News and How You Can Help Make it Happen

As you might have been able to tell, this month I am pretty darn excited! The reason being that, in February next year, I will be starting up jewellery classes from my lovely workshop, Karma & Crow Studio Collective, here in South Australia. The cafe and studio already have such a fantastic community feel which is a great environment to work in and given my teaching background, I really want to give back to our community by sharing my skills and experience. The joy and satisfaction I find in making jewellery just has to be shared with others.

My tool collection for workshops is slowly growing but I need your help to raise funds for more.

My tool collection for workshops is slowly growing but I need your help to raise funds for more.

I have a busy road ahead in order to get the project up and running and would love your help! There are two ways you can help me to set up a wonderful workshop area for my students:

1. Keep an eye out for my Crowd Funding Campaign where I will be offering a whole range of my handmade jewellery as well as exclusive classes as a big thank you for your donation. The campaign will coincide perfectly with your Christmas shopping so you can pick up a beautiful present for  someone special (or yourself) while supporting a local creative (that's me).

2. If you are a jeweller or hobbyist, you can donate your old (preferably functioning) jewellery tools that you no longer need. I will organise to have them collected, all you need to do is send me a quick email with a photograph of the tools you are willing to donate and your details.

Just add tools and our workshop area will be ready for classes. Photograph courtesy of Bianca Hoffrichter .

Stay tuned for more information about my crowd funding campaign. With your help we can make this happen!
